              Copy of book written by M M O'Shaughnessy 'Hetch Hetchy Its Origin and History'.

              Scrapbook with newspaper cuttings from 1933, including many letters to the editor on the subject of the dam. Interspersed with the newspaper cuttings are a letter to L T McAfee (O'Shaughnessy's successor as Chief City Engineer and Manager) from L A McAtee following an inspection of the San Joaquin Pipe Line (22 Mar 1934).

              A memo of notes entitled 'Talk before the Electrical League August 27 1934', on the subject of water, shortages in Liverpool, the expected finish date for the Hetch Hetchy project. A letter dictated by M M O'Shaughnessy to the editor of Safety Valve (4 Sep 1934) defending against criticisms of the Hetch Hetchy project.

              A typescript, detailed, itinerary driven account of O'Shaughnessy's trip to the East Coast of the United States and Europe. Some diary style notes on his travelling companions (three of his daughters), followed by notes of statistics, budgets and other factors pertinent to the engineering projects he visited. Copies of some of the letters O'Shaughnessy wrote to his wife and daughter Helen are included. The passenger list of the S S Cedric from New York to Liverpool via Cobh is also included. Also a typed list of the foot count of various nations engaged in the European War from 1914-1918 (identically laid out to the document described in P135/10/1). At the end of the volume is a press cutting from the cover of the Daily Herald, which includes a photograph of M M O'Shaughnessy and his 3 daughters about to embark on their trip.

              A typescript account of M M O'Shaughnessy's 3 month trip to Europe, taken in 1925 during his role as City Engineer, taking in Chicago, Buffalo, New York, Cork, Limerick, Dublin, London, Stratford on Avon, Paris, Chateau Thierry, Switzerland, Lake Geneva, Milan, Venice, Florence, Naples, Rome, Genoa, Marseilles, Boston and Montreal. The account gives summary observations of municipal engineering projects from many of the destinations making comparisons with San Francisco. He writes of his week spent in Ireland, recovering its prosperity after the recent wars. Comparisons of scale are drawn between the Shannon Power Scheme and the Hetch Hetchy plant for San Francisco.

Typed address from M M O'Shaughnessy at the Dedication of the O'Shaughnessy Dam, addressed to the Mayor and guests. The address gives a summary of the achievements of the project, building 4 auxiliary dams, and outlining some of the challenges of the terrain in the Sierra Nevada mountain regions. He acknowledged the sacrifices of the men who were employed on the project, with some loss of life. In the address he compared the project to the Ashokan reservoir in New York, and the costs associated with both projects. Towards the end of the address, O'Shaughnessy acknowledges controversy over the economic scale of the project.

              Scrapbook put together by M M O'Shaughnessy's daughter, Helen during her time as a student in Dominican College, San Rafael, California. The scrapbook is of a collection of postcards and newspaper clippings with captions. Many of these relate to the Missions of California, sights from around San Francisco, images of spectacular views to be found in California, particularly Mount Shasta and Shasta Springs, Mount Tamalpais and Muir Woods, Yosemite, postcards with art work depicting lumber mills, photographs from Los Angeles, artwork ahead of the San Diego Exposition in 1915.

              A small greeting card and postage stamps are tucked into the back of the scrapbook.
