Correspondence and other material relating to gifts given and received, and presentations made in 1994 in connection with Mary Robinson (MR)'s presidency, including typed letter from J Lynch, Department of Foreign Affairs, to Joseph Brennan (JB), Deputy Secretary to the President, which accompanied gift of book for MR, from Chairman Aidid, given to Lynch during visit by Chief of Staff to Somalia in connection with the rotation of the Irish transport unit in Baidoa, 22/02/1994; handwritten letter from Ms Caitríona Ó Cróinín in relation to gift of journal of Clifden and Connemara Heritage Group (1st volume), and copy of typed reply from Bride Rosney, Special Adviser to the President, on behalf of MR, in which she references that MR was developing library on local history at Áras an Uachtaráin [official residence of the President of Ireland], 11-14/04/1994; copy of typed response from MR to Mr Tommy Morris in relation to gift of "the Micheal MacLiammoir book", 06/07/1994; copy of typed response to Senator David Norris in relation to gift of Ulysses, translated into Chinese, from Professor Jin Di, 19/10/1994; correspondence between JB and Ms Annabel König and Mr Donal Hurley, in relation to catalogue of their show "Ice to Water, Water to Words", which they had sent, 18/10-01/11/1994.

File also includes cover letter from Peter Ryan, Secretary to the President, to MR in relation to the Ethics in Public Office Bill, 1994, (enclosed), which although not applicable to the President, was applicable to the Office of the President and to how gifts received were treated, 31/05/1994.
