Scope and content

Draft of statement of John Wilson Lynch before the Land Commissioners sitting at Gort, considering abatements for his tenants at Duras. He states that the rents were set in 1820 and again in 1882 at a very fair rate. He states that the lands are valuable producing barley and potatoes, seaweed on the shore, and turf landed from Connemara each season at Duras Quay. He feels that any further abatements would be unjust.
