Scope and content
Photocopied pages from a collection of manuscripts held by John Waddell of the Island and Coast Society of Ireland, established in 1833 to provide education to Protestant Children in remote parts of the coast and adjacent islands of Ireland. The photocopies mainly cover the years 1883 to 1928, and include press cuttings of their public appeals for funds, letters relating to Buildings being rented by the organisation in Kilronan, and photocopies of subscriptions received.
Photocopy of the Journal of George [Warren], a teacher based on the Aran Islands working on behalf of the Missionary Society for Islands and Coast of Ireland. The journal begins with a log for the winter 1854-1855, recording the portion of scripture read in school that day, and the number of pupils present each day. The rest of the journal is filled with diary entries that describe the author's visits in the community on religious matters, naming all the locals he spoke to in the course of his work. It is accompanied by a cover note to Robinson from John Waddell, dated 4 Jul 1986.
