The top of the map shows East Taylor Street, and it includes 5 rows of blocks down to East Clay Street, with 2 blocks on either side of Central Avenue. Units are numbered on each block, there is possibly a connected document elsewhere in the archive that provides an index to these units.

Headed paper of the El Capitan Hotel. Diary type piece, discussing his trip and impressions of the area. Notes a considerable embankment, and believes flood water must be "very great indeed". Describes part of the land infested with "gophers, squirrels and rabbits". In his report O'Shaughnessy notes that "inexpensive protective work is absolutely necessary to the proper enhancement of the value of this land", he describes the soil which is first rate for barley cultivation. Draft sketches are also included with some estimations and other figures.
