Notes to say the talk was given at 'Connemara National Park' (and a cassette recording of same), and also at the 1994 CAIS conference. The paper focussed on four Connemara people in the 19th century: the smuggler Captain Ó'Máilleach / George O'Malley, the priest and rebel Fr Myles Prendergast, the landlord's agent Robinson, and the folk poet Colm de Bhailís. The following year, the talk was reworked into a paper which he entitled 'Four Threads', two drafts of this included.
