Letter from Richard Ruttledge, Dublin to Thomas Ormsby of Ballinamore, Co. Mayo. "I received this day a letter from your son Mr. Ormsby of Knockmore mentioning his having got from Mr. Ruttledge of Bloomfield all the leases (except four or five which are in Dublin) of my grandfathers fee simple estates in Mayo and Galway, not at all reckoning those deriving under the lease for ever which has been I understand settled on said Mr. Ruttledge. The schedule which Mr. T. Ormsby has drawn from these leases amounts in the whole to about £1590 a year. I thought it would have been considerably more and altho' the above amount is to me ample and abundant yet I would not like to be deprived of anything to which I may have a just right, now my Dear Sir as you have always been my friend I am sure you will give me and your son (who has undertaken to manage my affairs) any information you can concerning the denominations, bounds and circumstances as far as have come to your knowledge. I believe you must have had some conversations about this property which our late dear friend Mr. Ruttledge of Cornfield who knew everything minutely. I write this to you in confidence I suppose that Mr. Ruttledge of Bloomfield has delivered everything fairly and correctly but we are all liable to mistakes. I ask pardon for giving you this trouble and am with best respects to Mrs. Ormsby and all of you, Dear Sir your most obedient, faithful humble servant Richard Ruttledge. Total amount of rent £1580. Deduct Kellescope etc. in the Co. Galway set to Mr. Campbell Fair at per annum, £440. Leaves the Mayo rent £1140.
