Letters in the 1970s discuss the inclusion of a story, "Swallows" (1971) in the New Irish Writing series; letters regarding publication of an extract from "The Leavetaking" (1974) and later letters discuss the inclusion of "The Wine Breath" in an anthology of Irish Ghost Stories, and other McGahern work being included in Phoenix Irish Short Story anthologies that Marcus is editing.
