It includes minutes for meeting held on 8th of January 1991 to discuss themes of the Presidency, organisation of office (roles of individuals, functional areas and special projects), staffing, resources, services and Government advice (143/4/9/2/1) and draft interim report "Management and Organisational Issues within Áras an Uachtaráin", January 1991, which sets out a model for the development of a Support Services Unit within Áras an Uachtaráin (P143/4/9/2/2).

              Photocopy of typed agenda and minutes for meeting held on 8th of January 1991 to discuss themes of the Presidency, organisation of office (roles of individuals, functional areas and special projects), staffing, resources, services and Government advice, which was attended by President Mary Robinson (MR), Nick Robinson, Bride Rosney, Joe Brennan and Peter Ryan; MR's handwritten notes in preparation for or taken during meeting.

              Themes listed in minutes and notes included Presidency as resource to support self-development at community and local level including voluntary activity, to symbolise the inclusion of the disadvantaged and marginalised, to promote values in areas such as environment, development aid, Human Rights at international level, to promote vibrancy in artistic and cultural endeavour, to foster sense of excellence in achievement, to establish/foster links with emigrants, to represent Ireland in positive and progressive image and work with established agencies such as IDA, Bord Fáilte to enhance and maximise investment, tourism and other opportunities, to create a President's Trust, to extend hand of friendship and love to both communities in Northern Ireland "with no strings attached, no hidden agenda" and also include mention of establishment for Support Services Unit for Áras an Uachtaráin focussed on three areas: Catering Services, Accommodation and Visitor Services and facilities (see P143/4/9/2/2).

              Spiral bound draft interim report "Management and Organisational Issues within Áras an Uachtaráin", January 1991, which sets out a model for the development of a Support Services Unit within Áras an Uachtaráin, to reflect and support the strategic vision of President Mary Robinson (MR), make the Áras more accessible to the public, ensure its resources are maximised and utilised and to ensure appropriate services are professional, cost effective and modern and which would be form model focussing on three strands under a manager: Catering Services, Accommodation and Visitor Services and facilities (see P143/4/9/2/1); background documentation photocopied and attached to memo from Peter Ryan to MR on the role of the Aide-de-Camp, 25/04/1991; photocopy of fax from Office of Public Works with draft advertisement for Catering and Services Manager, with handwritten note from MR to Peter Ryan (PR), Secretary to the President, with edits, 02/05/1991; photocopy of handwritten note from PR to MR stating that John McCullen, Parks Superintendent was inquiring whether there would be any objection to him taking four students for the summer months to gain experience of horticultural work at the Áras, with handwritten reply from MR "I warmly support the idea", 22-23/05/1991.

              Handwritten apology from James Gaughan and Tony Martin for missing their appointment to take MR back to Áras, because they were checking on a security issue ahead of her visit to Fernhill Gardens later in the week, and had been delayed, 10/06/1994; typed report from Katerine Lynch, Catering and Services Manager, on meetings on 2nd November, between her and Rosaleen McBride and Martina Weir, in relation to the catering needs of Áras an Uachtaráin, her perception of their reluctance to accept instructions from her, the resulting misunderstandings and failures leading to unnecessary tension, and Lynch's dissatisfaction with the running of the kitchen, the lowering of standards and staff morale, with an additional report on subsequent meeting with McBride alone, later that day, to clarify certain "unacceptable behaviour on her behalf", 12/11/1994.
