Recording of oral history interview with novelist and short story writer, Lucy Caldwell. Caldwell was part of a 'First Thought' talk event at the Galway International Arts Festival, entitled "Three Female Versions of Belfast", with Wendy Erskine and Rosemary Jenkinson. in conversation with Jessica Traynor. In the conversation Caldwell discusses her most recent novel, "These Days", earlier works including "Intimacies", "All the Beggars Riding", her role as editor of the collection of stories "Being Various", her early life and influences, memories of Belfast, her writing processes. Caldwell also discusses her plays and playwriting, including the play "Leaves, produced by Druid Theatre Company and directed by Garry Hynes.
