Archival history

The archive was donated to NUI Galway by Bernadette O'Shaughnessy of Co. Limerick. Bernadette is the widow of Michael M. O'Shaughnessy's grand nephew, who inherited this archive from Michael M. O'Shaughnessy's last surviving daughter, Elizabeth in 1999. It complements the Michael M. O'Shaughnessy archive of the Bancroft Library, University of California, Berkeley, and in an eandeavour to facilitate trans-Atlantic access to the archive, the decision to digitise the NUI Galway portion in its entirety was taken early in to this project. Retired Senior Lecturer Eamonn Cannon, and Dr Jamie Goggins from NUI Galway's College of Engineering and Informatics worked with the O'Shaughnessy family in Limerick and the Library
