Scope and content

Papers relating to a lease of premises in Thurles, Co Tipperary, by Denis Lord Dunsandle to the trustees of the Stranwix charity. This transaction was connected to court proceedings in a case Shrimpton v Boyd. George Roche, solicitor, represented the interests of the charity and Robert J Robertson gave legal advice to Meade, Colles and Co on behalf of Denis Lord Dunsandle.

The Stranwix charity was founded by Miss Emma Stranwix, who left a sum of money for the provision of a hospital and almshouses for women over 60 years of age. J Kiernan constructed a red brick building in the late 1880s, for £2,500. The architect was Albert E Murray FBIBA and an illustration of the building was published in The Irish Builder Vol XXXII, 1 June 1890.
