Two handwritten letters to M M O'Shaughnessy from [ ] Smith, the first requesting the return of some field books relating to the Market Street extension. The second letter expresses regret having missed O'Shaughnessy when he called at the office, and notes he will send for the books soon.

The author wishes to get a message to Mr Malony who he has been unable to contact, regarding the sale of a lot, and dealings with Putnam and Ford. A handwritten post-script at the end is dated 8 Oct 1892, and appears to be from a person working in the Crocker Building, who has not forwarded the letter to O'Shaughnessy so as not to bother him. He is possibly working off site.
