              First and second drafts of 'This Road Before Me', the Preface to Part 1 of 'A Little Gaelic Kingdom'. The drafts are typed with handwritten annotations, and an indication that Liam [Mac an Iomaire] has read the piece and suggested edits. The drafts show Part 1 was originally titled 'The Land of Talk', and had become 'Roads to Freedom' by 2009. (22 Jul 2008-20 Feb 2009). 7pp;

Attached to this is a file of correspondence between Tim Robinson and Dr Michael D Max of the Geological Survey that took place some years earlier (10 Jun 1983-5 Sep 1984). The file begins with a copy of a letter from Robinson seeking Max's advice on the type of stone on areas of the Aran Islands, and the correct terminology to use in describing the formations. Holy wells and triangular rock pools are also described for clarification. The area described in the correspondence is the Garomna, which is the subject of the chapter 'Subduction'. 11pp.
