Seven field notebooks used in the making of the Aran maps.

The notebooks contain notes on Kilmurvey House, portraits, crests, O'Flaherty Cross, Congested District Board Reports, the chapel at Eochaill, Eoghanacht Monastery. One notebook dedicated to Inis Oírr, including sketches from Cill Ghobnait and Teampall Chaomháin. Generally the notebooks also contain excerpts of stories, drawings of carved stones, sketches of monuments, draft sketches of maps, references to historical maps and everyday notes including phone numbers, grocery shopping lists and calculations relating to the cost of printing maps.

Red hardback notebook for the 1st edition of the Burren map. Contains an indexing system that corresponds to the annotations Robinson has made on Ordnance Survey maps (see P120/3/2/1/1). The indexes include megalithic tombs, pre-historic forts and dolmens that correspond to T J Westropp's work, forts and dolmens not described by Westropp, peel towers, map sketches of towns, sketches of flora, sketches of carvings, and lists of cooking sites.

Box of index cards with 307 numbered cards, each assigned to a townland in the Burren. The cards begin in Ballyvaughan, and continue South ending up in Tulla. These cards are not as detailed as the placename index for the Aran Islands and Connemara (P120/1). Some of the cards contain summary information about a holy well or another feature Robinson wished to remember. The numbers do not correspond to the notebook.

Series of notes about the local features of Fawnmore, [An Fán Mór]. A note on Bishop's Rock which expands on the legend of how it came to be named, and the distortion of this story. Also described are South Beach, a small cashel, Dial Hill, Maolan Buí, and Fawnmore Cove. A letter from Mike Gibbons is credited as being a source of information for this townland.

File relating to fauna, containing mostly correspondence.

Correspondence with Paul Hillis on the subject of migrating butterflies. Begins with a newspaper clipping from the Irish Times in which Hillis has written to the editor appealing for information from the public on migrant butterfly species, followed by correspondence between Robinson and Hill that begins in Sep 1975 and continues until Sep 1978. 9pp;

Letter from Michael O'Meara on the subject of the corncrake survey, seeking information from the north-western end of Inishmore. Attached to the letter are details of the survey, carried out by the Irish Wildbird Conservancy. Some handwritten notes of locations and sightings by Robinson at the bottom of the page. Letter from Ian Forsyth, Department of Extra Mural Studies at Queen's University Belfast seeking records of the Mute Swan, and enclosing details of a census being carried out by the British Trust for Ornithology. Seven letters from James S Fairley of the Zoology Department at UCG. Begins with a newspaper clipping in which Fairley seeks information from the public on whales, including whaling, collisions with ships and the use of whale bones for unusual purposes. His letters to Robinson relate to a ballad of an Inishmore whale. (30 May 1978 - 2 Aug 1983), 8pp;

Two letters from Julian Reynolds of the Department of Zoology at Trinity College, asking Robinson for his opinion on a paper about freshwater fauna in sites in Aran (2 Jul - 5 Aug 1983), 2pp;

Letter from Colm Ronayne enquiring if Robinson has kept up to date with his dragonfly records. Copy of Robinson's reply, regretting he has not, and enclosing a copy of his diary entry for Aug 1978 describing the work. (Aug 1987), 3pp;
