Ten handwritten letters to M M O'Shaughnessy from Joseph W Hocking, sent from Windy Camp. The letters are optimistic in tone and provide periodic updates to O'Shaughnessy on their search for ore, with early indications suggesting the presence of copper. The letters refer to the work of Jim Raymond, Mr's Hill, Wright, Fielding, Weil, Ellis, Sparks, Malm and Winslow, and Dr Simons. Later letters in the sequence outline prices on the claims, and discuss water rights.

File of documents relating to Joseph O'Mara, brother of Stephen O'Mara, Snr. Joseph was a renowned opera singer. Based in Limerick, O'Mara performed around Ireland and the U.K. Includes sepia postcard image of Joseph O'Mara, standing in front profile; an internet printout of a webpage family history of Joseph O'Mara; Press article by Frances Condell (former Mayor of Limerick) dated 30 Oct 1967, writing a piece remembering Joseph O'Mara and conversations she had about him with Michael Rynne (O'Mara's grandnephew). Invitation to Michael and Mrs Rynne to a reception held by the Limerick Choral and Operatic Society, 1967, in Limerick. Letter attached, from said society, to Michael Rynne, mentions how they will unveil a plaque to "Limerick's illustrious operatic tenor, Joseph O'Mara." Carbon copy of letters sent to Irish newspapers by Michael Rynne, though signed off as by "Memory Man" listing the English language lyrics to a song "The Little Silver Ring", previously sang by Joseph O'Mara.

Copied correspondence between John Waddell and Bernard Meehan, the Keeper of Manuscripts at Trinity College Dublin in which Waddell offers to donate photographs taken by J M Synge following a bomb explosion in the dining room of the Parish Priest on Inishmore / Inis Mór. The letter includes an outline of the story, photocopies and 1 photographic print showing the destruction. Also in this file are two letters, transcribed from originals written by the Reverend Alexander Hamilton Synge to Edward [ ] in 1851.

Correspondence between M M O'Shaughnessy and John R Lowdon, County Recorder for Shasta County, and licenced mineral surveyor. Lowdon outlines fees for recording Location Notices of Mines, and in his reply O'Shaughnessy encloses 15 notices and a cheque.

Material relating to the commissioning and publication of J M Synge's 'The Aran Islands' by Penguin Classics. Tim Robinson wrote an introduction and notes on the piece.

Appointment diaries of John McGahern for years 1983 and for 1994. Some loose pages for 2002 also present. A third diary for 2008, after McGahern has died, is likely in the hand of Madeline McGahern.
