Scope and content
Letter from Earnán de Blaghd, Minister for Finance, to Dr Seamus Ó Beirn, Sea Park, Galway, asking him not to insert the proposed advertisement in the papers until he has had a chance to talk with Mac Liammóir, who had disappointed them by not turning up on the 15th October. He states that once the matters of the Gate Theatre have been sorted that he will know where Mac Liammóir stands in relation to the Irish Theatre. He states that the only alternative would be an English speaking producer with an Irish speaking assistant, which would cost more. He questions the wisdom of an advertisement. "The situation in regard to Irish drama is such that you are not going to have capable people looking for the job". In a hand written note at the end he states that he has spoken with Mac Liammóir by phone and that he has agreed to call on him. He feels that a misunderstanding has arisen in relation to Robinson's letter to them and ends by entreating them not to advertise.
