The letter concludes "The latest news from Europe gives us an account of the victory gained by the British troops over the French in Italy ... it will prove to Napoleon that his troops are not invincible when Britons are in the field with them ... give my best respects to Becky and Letitia".
Letter from John Roe, 10 Merrion Row, Dublin, to Anthony Ormsby, Ballinamore, Co. Mayo, largely concerning a map made at Ballinamore and that there will "be no delay but for Mr. Longfield (who is expected every day) and he to sign two maps for the deeds ..." He recounts that "we had 3 guards from Athlone to Dublin, Mr. Lees of the Post Office having received information that the Mail would be attempted to be robbed that night, however, we had no attack". Also includes his account for "the business between you and Col Trench".
