File 1 includes a published booklet on the history of St. Mary's Abbey written by Stephen Josten, O[rder]. Carm[elite]. (1984). Also includes some Manuscript drawn maps and site drawings of the Abbey by Etienne Rynne; colour photo of a carved stone at Strade Abbey, Co. Mayo; a copy of the 1985 'Golden Jubilee' issue of the Knock Shrine calendar; an outsize blueprint of 'Landscape Improvements at Ballinsmula Abbey, Claremorris."
Files 2-3 - Correspondence between Etienne Rynne and Stephen Josten, O[rder]. Carm[elite]. Josten encloses multiple items with his letters, such as copies of Abbey and parish newsletters, press cuttings, material and pamphlets, images of former Carmelite order members and related objects in discussion around the history of the Abbey.
File 4 contains further correspondence with assorted individuals regarding investigations and archaeological work at St. Mary's Abbey and includes letters from Senator Jim Higgins; P.J. Morley T.D.; Also copy minutes of the conservation committee of Ballinasmalla Abbey (St. Mary's).
