Material consisting of correspondence, agendas, minutes and press releases relating to TASC, A Think Tank for Action on Social Change, based in Dublin, and The Democracy Commission, a co-initiative of theirs and the Belfast-based think tank Democratic Dialogue. Drawn from a broad political and social spectrum the Commission of ten was chaired by Irish Congress and Trade Unions General Secretary David Begg, with Mary Robinson (MR) acting acted as International Counsellor to the Commission. It includes a briefing document describing the proposal to set up the independent commission on the issue of democracy in Ireland, "Reinventing Democracy for the 21st Century", with cover letter from Paula Clancy, Director TASC to Bride Rosney, PA to MR, 18/07/2002; press information pack for press event announcing proposed project on 17th December 2002; minutes of inaugural meeting of Democracy Commission, 29/05/2003 and 5th meeting 05/12/2004; report on activities since public launch of Commission on 2nd July 2003; letter of thanks from Clancy to MR as Commission's work was drawing to close, 20/10/2005.

Files relating to research by Etienne Rynne on Tao Cross of Killinaboy, Co. Clare.

File 1 Includes off-print of published article by Rynne entitled "The Tau-Cross at Killinaboy: Pagan or Christian?" (North Munster Studies, 1967) and also assorted MS and TS drafts of the article and other written observations.

File 2 includes MS and TS correspondence between Rynne and the Royal Society concerning the lecture; also letters between Rynne and others such as John Wallace and the National Museum of Ireland discussing a find, 'St. Patrick's Farthing' and other 18th C. coins, with etchings of coins on the letter. Also a batch of letters between Rynne and others including Charles Haughey, T.D. and Minister for Finance, regarding a protest "against the proposal to remove certain ancient monuments from their present sites to Dublin for exhibition as a display of modern painting organised by ROSC (Oct 1967) with further letters to Michael Scott and to the Office of Public Works by Rynne detailing the terms of the protest and objections to the exhibition. (1967).

File 3 includes detailed manuscript notes and loose-leaf pages of MS drawings by Rynne on the topic of the Tao Cross.

File 4 includes black and white and also colour photographic prints of Tao at Killinaboy and also images taken of a Tao cross on Tory Island.

File 5 includes image plates and illustrations used by Rynne in his research and lectures on Tao crosses.

File 6 includes press cuttings with letters to the press by Etienne Rynne commenting on the Tao Cross at Killinaboy (1973)

Included in the description are various local features including Loch Bheag, Garraí Pheadaí, Cnocán na hAibhne, Balla Bhannóg, Oileán Cois Fharraige, Aill na mBó, Garraí Cheann Mhór, Oileán na hAbhann, Balla Chúlóg, Tobar Bhidí, Carraigneachaí, Béalain, Lochán Dealaí, Dóilín, Muing, Oileán an Ghiolcaigh, Carraig an Ime, Oileán na Craoibhe, Tamhnach Bán Lake, and Cois Fharraige (a small peninsula on the South Coast, and the site of a megalithic tomb). Tom Conneely and Joe Joyce are credited with providing some of the information.
