Personal letter, giving update on Bill's(??) San Francisco property, saying the author intends to return to some branch of Engineering, and would be willing to visit O'Shaughnessy in Shasta. He indicates he may be recovering from an illness, and gives bad news about the eldest daughter of Joe Donovan who has recently died. Concludes by saying "the $10,000 damage done by the cyclone is repaired now".

Begins "I know that every minute of your time is taken up with the blessed babies". Notes they are preparing their house for rent. The real estate market is proving dull, so they are sticking with teaching for a while. Says she is trying to coax Jack to visit California, and wonders if [Maisie] will let her know Mick's availability.

Was disappointed to miss O'Shaughnessy who is in Shasta, but talks about the time he spent with O'Shaughnessy's wife (Maime?) and "lovely children. Margaret and Mary have especially captivated me". Talks about his plans for the coming days, and his wish to visit O'Shaughnessy in Mill Valley.

Gives an update on his current status, with Mr Green and party. Mentions his pleasant time in Mill Valley, and thanks O'Shaughnessy for his offer of pay, but declines "the experience I am getting is better than pay".
