Scope and content

Personal letters to William Wilson Lynch from family members, friends and acquaintances, mainly relating to business and genealogical matters. A memorandum, dated 1905, refers to William Wilson Lynch being awarded the Queen's South African Medal, other letters concern improvements to the Court House at Sixmilebridge in 1913 and the costs of a mortgage to the Bank of Ireland in 1915. A list of solicitor's costs relating to this mortgage is included. In 1914 he received a threatening letter from 'Captain Moonlight' and in 1924 his brother Thomas Wilson Lynch wrote of the bleak financial outlook. One letter, dated 13 August 1945, is addressed to Ian Morrow, Mount Ievers, Sixmilebridge, and gives details of the sales of Moycullen House, and Cregg Castle, Co Galway. One letter is addressed to Loftus Studdert [see LE6/D/274].
